In January I made a decision that changed the way I walk through and within life. I chose to:
- think about all I do, each day as I do it. To live mindfully and in the moment.
- eat organic food; nothing processed and packaged.
- to exercise daily
- to examine my life and my choices so far
- to be openly, more authentically, ME!
When you open your kitchen cupboards what do you see? I see very little these days; some dried spices, some medjool dates, some raw cashews, raw almonds, raw walnuts. A container of coconut flour, some dried beans, chili, garlic, onions. Before January you would have seen plastic packets and boxes and cans. But what would you see if you looked closer?
I certainly didn’t look closely at labels. Even simple foods ( or those you consider simple seem to have a few ingredients at the top followed by a list of numbers and scientific names you cannot recognise.
I followed an Elimination diet ( thanks Dax!!!) for 30 days, at the end of which time the improvement in my whole self was so dramatic I have chosen to follow the principles since then. My weight dropped dramatically (without counting calories!!), my skin became clear, and my brain worked better and clearer. Every ailment I though was age related, apparently is not inevitable and all symptoms have disappeared. Goodbye roseacea, goodby heavy thoughts, and lumbering heavy body. I have dropped 5 dress and trouser sizes.
Back to the supermarket. Look closer, what do you really see? I see, a few ingredients, followed by loads and loads of numbers.
When did it become acceptable for numbers to be ingredients in a food product? I have never seen 252 growing in the fields or 127 hanging off a tree. Yet, they are now components in nearly every packaged food on the supermarket shelves.
Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) is the governing body for food regulation in Australia. They determine the standards of the Australian and New Zealand food industry based on research and professional opinions. Honestly, they really do work had and do a great job.
However, the food industry is progressing at a rapid pace and the science can’t keep up. It is not possible to determine long-term effects when a product was invented 6 months ago.
What we do know now is that some people can not tolerate these new foods. They are packed with additives, just look at the label. These additives have been found to have horrific side effects in those that are sensitive. By following the below table we aim to reduce these immediate side effects and in the process reduce the unknowns of the long-term use in the future.
